We were out in a nice residential neighborhood not far from Westwood Hills Nature Center in St Louis Park MN for a job that covered a little bit of everything. The homeowner needed a new keypad deadbolt on their front entrance door, a new lock on a bedroom door, and a rekey on another existing lock. This is the kind of call we love because we can take care of it all in one visit.

In the photos you can see the new Schlage keypad deadbolt installed on the front door. We went with a matte black finish to match the existing doorknob. One photo shows the keypad with the green light on after programming, and the other shows the blue backlit numbers which makes it real easy to punch in your code when you come home at night. Schlage is one of the brands we recommend most for residential keypad locks. They are solid, they hold up well through Minnesota winters, and they are simple for homeowners to program on their own, and they aren’t that expensive.

Something we hear from homeowners a lot is can you rekey my other locks to match the new one. The answer is usually yes. For this job the homeowner had a Baldwin lock on another door that needed to be rekeyed. In the photo below you can see our technician working with the Baldwin cylinder and our LAB pinning kit. We pulled the cylinder, matched the pins to the new key (which he had for another lock in the house), and put it all back together so one key works on both locks. Thats the kind of convenience that makes a big difference day to day.
